Class Exercises

Welcome to Unit 10 Exercises

The assignment for this Unit was to complete all the Exercises in Chapters 17 and 18 in Macromedia Flash MX 2004 Hands-On Training. Click on a link below to view the Flash Movie for each Exercise

Chapter 17 Exercise 1 The only thing required in this exercise was to admire the flash movie already built for us. You can use the link at the left to see the Movie provided to us in the book (after the minor changes made to it in exercises 1-5)
Chapter17 Exercise 2 This is another exercise where we were asked only to admire each scene in a movie already built for us. Use the link for Chapter 17 Exercise 1 to see the movie.
Chapter 17 Exercise 3 In this exercise, we examine the various layers within the scenes. Use the link for Chapter 17 Exercise 1 to see the movie.
Chapter 17 Exercise 4 The only action required in this exercise was to move file from the top level in the library to a folder within the library. If you click on a library item and cannot see anything in the preview area, try changing the background color of the stage. This will most likely reveal the button or the movie clip you are trying to preview. Use the link for Chapter 17 Exercise 1 to see the movie.
Chapter 17 Exericse 5 In this exercise, we learned how to use the Movie Explorer. I am beginning to wish that I had read Chapters 16 and 17 at the beginning of the course instead of waiting to read them in sequence. Use the link for Chapter 17 Exercise 1 to see the movie.
Chapter 17 Exercise 6 This shows the movie with the preloader we are instructed to build. The actionScript code in this example loads the entire movie before leaving the "preloader".
Chapter 17 Exercise 7 We were asked to print one page per scene from the fla file. The link at the left will display a PDF file that contains the printout.
Chapter 17 Exercise 8 Link to document that was printed by right clicking during Flash "Test Scene"
Chapter 17 Exercise 8 Link to document that was printed by using the Print button in the Flash Movie.
Chapter 17 Exercise 9 After this exercises, the Movie loads scenes correctly. However, the Safety Movie ("Control") does not contain a Close Window button so once you open it, you are stuck with it. (It looks like this will be addressed in Exercise 10)
Chapter 17 Exercise 10 This links to the same place as Exercise 9. However, now movie soundSync,.swf has been enhanced so you can drag or close the Window. (Since everything is happening in the same folder, the problem noted in Exercise 9 no longer exists.)
Chapter 18 Exercise 1 The object in the upper left of the screen is an imported png that was created with Fireworks. It was imported as "editable" and then edited in Flash to change the first word from "GEAR" to "BOOT"
Chapter 18 Exercise 2 The object in the upper right of the screen is an amported png that was created with Fireworks. It was imported as a flattened bitmap and then edited in Fireworks to change the color of the word "SALE".
Chapter 18 Exercise 3 This movie was created by importing a Freehand document and then changing to background color in one of the frames. I slowed down the frame rate to 1 frame-per-second to make the change easier to see.
Chapter 18 Exercise 4 This movie was created by importing a Freehand document and then changing to background color of the lower boomerang in one of the scenes. I slowed down the frame rate to 1 frame-per-second to make the change easier to see.
Chapter 18 Exercise 5 This link points to an HTML document into which I included a Flash Movie. I used the Dreamweaver features to allow me to edit the Flash Movie directly from Dreamweaver. The editing change was to shrink the size of the animated logo in the upper right of the screen..
Chapter 18 Exercise 6 This movie contains scenes imported from Adobe Illustrator. I changed to background color of the snowboard to black in one of the scenes. I slowed down the frame rate to 1 frame-per-second to make the change easier to see.
Chapter 18 Exercise 7 This movie contains layers imported from Adobe Illustrator.
Chapter 18 Exercise 8 This movie contains accessbile content. You will hear it if you have a Screen Reader installed and use Microsoft Windows Internet Explorer.
